Selank Anxiolytic Peptide
Selank is supplied as 10mg lyophilised powder for laboratory research. Price is shown in your currency, and its Certificate from a named outside laboratory is published on this page. Not for human or veterinary use.
Selank is a synthetic seven-amino-acid peptide developed at Russia's Institute of Molecular Genetics and modelled on tuftsin, an endogenous immunomodulatory fragment. It is investigated for its anxiolytic (anti-anxiety) profile and reported effects on GABAergic tone, BDNF expression and stress-circuit modulation in preclinical neuroscience studies.
The research profile.
Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide built from the immunomodulatory tetrapeptide tuftsin (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg) extended with a Pro-Gly-Pro tail. The tripeptide extension is the reason the molecule appears in the literature at all: it slows enzymatic degradation substantially compared with native tuftsin, which is what made systemic and intranasal study designs practical.
The published mechanism work is centred on GABAergic signalling rather than on direct receptor agonism. Cell-culture studies report that Selank shifts the expression of genes involved in GABAergic neurotransmission, and behavioural work in rodents describes it modifying the response to benzodiazepines rather than substituting for them. Separate reports describe effects on monoamine turnover, on enkephalin-degrading enzyme activity in serum, and on BDNF content in the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex — a spread of findings that reviewers characterise as a multi-target profile rather than a single defined binding site.
Because tuftsin is an immune-derived fragment, a parallel line of research examines cytokine expression under stress models. Reviewers of the field are explicit that the molecular account remains incomplete, and most of the clinical record sits in Russian-language psychiatry journals rather than in large multi-centre trials.

Subcutaneous · Once daily · 250–500 mcg per administration · 2–4 weeks
Intranasal instillation is the route used in the published Russian clinical work, where a dilute aqueous solution was applied in divided daily portions across a two-to-four week course. Figures describe study protocols only.
Ranges reflect protocols reported in the published literature on Selank — see research citations.
Calculate a dilutionFrom powder to solution.
- Step 01
Add 2 ml bacteriostatic water
Aim the stream at the vial wall rather than the powder.
- Step 02
Swirl gently — never shake
Rotate the vial until the solution runs clear. Agitation degrades the peptide.
- Step 03
Refrigerate at 2–8 °C
Reconstituted vials belong in the fridge, protected from direct light.
- Step 04
Use within 28 days
Discard any remainder once the stability window closes.
A 10 mg vial in 2 ml of bacteriostatic water gives a 5 mg/ml solution — convenient for the low microgram amounts described in the literature.

Observed across the research window.
Milestones summarise findings reported in the cited studies. Outcomes vary across models and protocols.
Acute administration studies
Rodent anxiety-model work reports measurable behavioural differences after single administrations, including altered responses when the peptide is paired with diazepam.
Expression-level changes
Cell-culture and tissue studies describe shifts in the expression of genes tied to GABAergic neurotransmission within the first days of repeated exposure.
Mid-course clinical comparisons
The Russian clinical literature reports interim rating-scale comparisons against an active benzodiazepine comparator around the two-week point of an intranasal course.
Protocol end points
Published courses generally conclude between two and four weeks, where end-point comparisons and tolerability observations are recorded.
